Rise Books accepts works of fiction and non-fiction guided by the principles of radical inspiration, books that are written to create change and transformation in the world and within our politics and culture. Rise Books accepts novels, memoir, and narrative non-fiction, including spirituality, mysticism, witchery, recovery, revolution, parenting, motherhood, and books related to social justice.

Rise Books does not publish business, self-help, personal development, or wellness books not directly connected to the above subject matter. If you are writing within those genres, please take a look at our hybrid publisher Ascend Publishing to see if that might be a better fit for your publishing journey. 

Proposal/Manuscript Guidelines

If you are submitting a work of fiction or a memoir, we ask that you please submit a 1-2 page query letter describing your book, your experience as an author and/or writer, and the audience or community for whom the book was written, along with 2-3 comparative titles. In addition, please also include the first 20 pages of your book, compiled in one PDF document (query letter and sample writing together).

If you are writing in one of the narrative non-fiction genres listed above, please send along a proposal describing your work, personal and professional experience, and sample chapters. We are open to a variety of ways to pitch and tell your story. However, the proposal should include:

• An overview outlining the book, your experience as an author and/or writer, and the audience or community for whom the book was written.

• A marketing plan describing your personal and professional experience and the networks and ways in which you see this book being sold, along with 2-3 comparative titles.

• A short summary of every chapter in the book, including a table of contents.

• Writing samples for 1-2 chapters of the book.
