Rise Books accepts works of fiction and non-fiction guided by the principles of radical inspiration, books that are written to create change and transformation in the world and within our politics and culture. Rise Books accepts fiction, memoir, and narrative non-fiction connected to spirituality, mysticism, witchery, recovery, revolution, parenting, motherhood, and topics related to social justice.
Rise Books does not publish business, self-help, personal development, or wellness books not directly connected to the above subject matter. If you are writing within those genres, please take a look at our hybrid publisher, Ascend Publishing, to see if that might be a better fit for your publishing journey.

We are not your usual hybrid press as Ascend is distributed by Simon & Schuster, offering authors national (and international) distribution of their titles, in addition to providing professional production, editorial, design, and publicity and marketing services. After years of working with authors who struggled to find a home with traditional publishers - and could not afford to self-publish - founder Kristen McGuiness recognized she wanted to create a space that was equitable and supportive of authors whose stories deserved to be told, even if traditional publishing wasn’t ready, or willing, to help tell them.
Rise Books is a boutique literary publisher, which curates the best of the Rise Writers community, publishing 6 to 10 books a year in the genres of cultural disruption, mysticism, ethical business, radical birthing, collective liberation, political fiction, literary memoir, motherhood, recovery, and other works that explore what it means to be radically inspired.
Rise Writers is a place, a space, a community for people who believe in radical inspiration. We are a creative home for people who have struggled to find a voice in commercial and popular literature but who still believe in the power of truth telling and community.
